A soloist with an extensive international career, Carles Marín has given recitals in some of the most prestigious concert halls and festivals, such as the Salzburg Festival (Grosser Saal and Viener Saal del Mozarteum), Concertgebauw in Amsterdam, Le Doelen in Rotterdam, Salle Cortot and UNESCO in Paris, Salle Gotique in Brussels, Festival de Florence, Seymour Center in Sydney, National Theater of Panama, Festival del Mediterri (Palau de Les Arts), Festival “Rafael Orozco” in Córdoba, Auditorio de Manuel Falla de Granada, Palau de la Música Catalana, Palau de the Music of Valencia, Juan March Foundation in Madrid, Festival d'Echternatch- Luxembourg or Festival di Lucca, among others.
He has performed as a soloist with important orchestras, such as the Valencian Community and the Principal of the Palau de Les Arts, Córdoba, Valencia, Andrés Segovia and Reina Sofía from Madrid, Mahler Chamber Soloists, Moonwinds, Castilla y León or Rotterdam Ensemble. After the presentation in his youth by Maestro Miguel Ángel Gómez- Martínez with the First Tchaikovsky Concert, he has performed under important batons, such as those of Jordi Bernácer, Max Bragado, Sborljub Dinic, Enrique García Asensio, Omer Meir Wellber, Juan Luis Martínez, Francisco Valero Terribas and Josep Vicent, among others.
An active chamber musician, he collaborates with a large number of artists, such as clarinetists José Franch-Ballester, Joan Enric Lluna and Olivier Patey, violinists Giorgji Dimcheski, Vicente Huerta and Jesús Reina, violist Josep Puchades, cellists Lluís Claret, Rafal Jezierski and Asier Polo, as well as with the Piccolo Francisco Varoch or the Zilliacus-Persson-Raitinen Trio, among many others.
His “Paraphrase of Wagner's Valkyrie Ride”, edited by Boileau de Barcelona, has received unanimous applause since its composition in 2013. It was recently published by the official Steinway & Sons website, which has multiplied its international popularity.
He has won more than forty piano competitions, such as the Mozarteum Academy and the Scarlatti Preis in Salzburg, Baltic in Poland, Panama City, City of Marsala, Vianna da Mota in Lisbon, José Iturbi in Valencia, Flame in Paris, Manuel de Falla in Granada, Virtuoso Prize in Rotterdam, Ibiza, Yamaha Foundation of Europe, Madrid and Frechilla-Zuloaga, among others. His celebrated CD Piano Fire (Nîbius Label, 2016), has been awarded the Golden Music Artist and was album of the month on Ritmo.
Although he has maintained a constant pedagogical activity for more than two decades, his agenda has focused on this facet more intensely in recent years, mainly as a professor at the Alfonso X El Sabio University in Madrid. He is currently a piano teacher in the High Specialization Program of the Escuela Internacional Musical Arts Madrid (MAM), as well as an Academic and Artistic Advisor to that institution. He is also regularly invited to teach masterclasses in different European cities, as well as a permanent teacher at the Sardoal Piano Meeting (Portugal), in the Advanced Piano Training Courses of the Accademia Musicale Europea (Naples, Italy) and at the Xàbia's Moon International Piano Festival, of which he is also Artistic Director. In the next academic year 2021/2022, she will join the faculty of the prestigious Miami International Piano Festival Academy, invited by its founder, the visionary pianist and pedagogue Giselle Brodsky, who is also a mentor to Carles Marín.
He has also worked with other important figures in his training, such as Joaquín Achúcaro and, more recently, Edna Golandsky, who has provided him with a wealth of information about the Taubman Approach. He has also received advice from Alicia de Larrocha and Zubin Mehta.
His repertoire is rich and versatile, as well as committed to current music, having made world premieres by different composers who have dedicated works to him, such as César Cabedo, Raúl Carrión, Miguel Gironés or Andrés Valero.
He is currently a member of the Valencia Iturbi International Piano Competition Commission, as Artistic Advisor, under the direction of the distinguished Maestro Joaquín Achúcaro.
