Víctor Díaz Guerra

Clarinete

Born in Cáceres (1996), he studied clarinet with Alejandro Parejo at the Hermanos Berzosa Conservatory in Cáceres, obtaining the National Prize for Professional Education in Music; with António Saiote at the ESMAE in Porto (Portugal) where he graduated at the age of 19; and with Yehuda Gilad at Colburn School, Los Angeles (United States) where he obtained the Master of Music and the Artist Diploma. Víctor has been a Solo Clarinet of the Madrid Community Orchestra since 2022. In addition, he is the first Spanish clarinetist to be awarded the 3rd prize in the prestigious Carl Nielsen International Competition (Denmark) in 2019. He has also been recognized with First Prize in national and international competitions such as International Clarinet Association (Italy), European Clarinet Association (Poland) and Pasadena Showcase Instrumental Competition (United States), among others. As a solo artist he has performed with orchestras such as the Polish National Radio Symphony Orchestra, Copenhagen Philharmonic, Extremadura Orchestra and Colburn Orchestra.

He has premiered works by Esa-Pekka Salonen, Guillermo Iriarte and Leandro Lorrio, and his performances have been broadcast on medici.tv, Polish National Radio and Classical Radio. Passionate about chamber music, he has collaborated with artists such as Noah Bendix-Balgley, Clive Greensmith, Fabio Bidini, Marina Piccinini, Jonathan Biss, Denis Bouriakov, Rodolfo Leone, Sang Yoon Kim, Viano String Quartet and Dahlia String Trio.

In addition, he is a founding member of Sonarsix, an award-winning group at the Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition (United States) and named Colburn Artist. Víctor is a member of the renowned Marlboro Music Festival (United States). He has been a guest clarinetist at the Los Angeles Philharmonic, San Diego Symphony, Baltimore Symphony, Royal Northern Sinfonia, Extremadura Orchestra, and has been a member of the Pacific Music Festival Orchestra. She has also performed under the direction of Michael TilsonThomas, Esa-Pekka Salonen, Marin Alsop, Valery Gergiev, Christoph Eschenbach, Stéphane Denève, Ludovic Morlot, Andrés Salado, Rafael Payare, Sir George Benjamin and Mitsuko Uchida (soloist-director). Víctor is currently a clarinet teacher at the Escuela Superior Musical Arts in Madrid, and has been an assistant professor of Yehuda Gilad at Colburn School Music Academy in Los Angeles (2018-2022).

In turn, he has received master classes from clarinetists such as Boris Allakverdyan, Michel Arrignon, Philippe Berrod, Martin Fröst, Wenzel Fuchs, Burt Hara, Florent Héau and Stephen Williamson. In 2021, he released his first album “Dialogues Without Words” with the pianist José María Villegas, with whom he regularly collaborates.
