Janna Gandelman

Violín

Janna Gandelman was born in Kishinev, Moldova and at the age of 5 she began playing the violin and studying with Professor Weiner. Very soon, numerous competitions began even in the Soviet Union, such as the National Violin Competition, the Stoliarsky School Competition, the International Competition of the USSR and the Auer Competition. After immigrating to Israel in 1979, he continued his studies with the legendary violin pedagogue Bondarenko, who was assistant to David Oistrach. Also in 1979, Gandelman was accepted as part of one of the most famous cultural foundations in the world, the American-Israel Cultural Foundation, which currently promotes many prestigious cultural projects. As a member of this foundation, Janna Gandelman has worked in many countries around the world. During his studies at the Tel Aviv Academy of Music with Professor Kless, Gandelman won competitions such as the Clearmonunt and Shapira in Israel, the Lipitzer in Italy or the Atlanta Competition.

Janna Gandelman has been a member of major Israeli ensembles such as: Musica Nova, Caprizma, 21st Century, Concertino de la Israel Camerata and many others. As a solo artist he has performed with many orchestra conductors such as Garry Bertini, Asher Fish, Mendi Rodan and many more. He has also been a concertmaster for the Flemish Chamber Orchestra.

As part of his chamber music activity, he has performed with musicians such as: Gidon Kremer, Isaak Stern, Eliso Versaladze, Sol Gabetta and others, participating in prestigious festivals around the world such as the Bloomington, Schleswig-Holstein, Israel, Jerusalem Chamber Music Festival. Janna Gandelman has taught master classes all over the world, including Russia, Argentina or Brazil and in a special project in Israel called Polyphony, which brings together Arab and Jewish students through music. He has recorded Kara Karayev's violin concerto for Naxos. Janna Gandelman is a concertmaster of the Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra and is a violin teacher at the Buchmann-Mehta Music School of Tel Aviv University. Gandelman performs with a J. B. Gudagnini violin generously provided by the Yehuda Zisapel Foundation.
