Igor Petrushevski

Violín

Igor Petrushevski is one of the most successful violin professors in Europe. His students have won numerous international competitions, including the Tibor Varga, Tchaikovsky, Indianapolis, Long-Thibaud, Paganini, Lipizer, Tokyo, Wieniawski, Heifetz, Joachim, Sion, Britten, Canetti, Enescu, Valsesia, and Khachaturian competitions. They have performed with renowned artists such as Maxim Vengerov, Kristjan Järvi, Krzysztof Penderecki, Shlomo Mintz, Vladimir Jurowski, and Giancarlo Guerrero, as well as with prestigious orchestras like the Royal Philharmonic, the London Philharmonic, the Hamburg Philharmonic, and the Vilnius State Philharmonic.

Petrushevski has appeared in numerous television and radio broadcasts. Over the past 20 years, he has given masterclasses and performed in major concert halls across the United Kingdom, Italy, Austria, France, throughout the former Yugoslavia, Russia, North and South America, Korea, and China. Some of his students now lead major orchestras in the U.S., the U.K., and Russia, and perform in ensembles such as the Vienna Philharmonic and the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. Many have gone on to have successful international solo careers and hold teaching positions at universities around the world.

He is currently a professor at the Richard Wagner Konservatorium and an honorary professor at the Yerevan State Conservatory. He began his teaching career at Trinity College of Music and later taught at the Royal Academy of Music in London. He was the artistic director of the ‘Strings In London International Music Festival.’ He has served on the jury of several international competitions, including the London Oratory International Violin Competition, the George Enescu International Violin Competition, the Aram Khachaturian International Violin Competition, the Tchaikovsky Competition for Young Musicians, and the Osaka International Music Competition.

He has performed on a 1699 Stradivarius and currently plays a Storioni.
